How SERP works
How You Benefit from the SERP Research Tool
The SERP Research Tool (SERP) performs multiple searches on search engines simultaneously for you. It gets the first 200 results, removes the duplicates and then you can filter the results and look at up to 95 different metrics.
An example of a use for the SERP Tool would be to find Follow links on a blog or a forum that is talking about your niche. The SERP Tool will show you if you already have a link there. You can export these results and give them to your link building team.
The SERP tool shows you the actual result found on Google, along with its rank on Google and the keyword that it’s ranking for. These can be all sorted by the LRT Power*Trust™.
You could use some of the SERP tool’s results to find link opportunities. If you need to know more, hover over a link and then click the plus sign (+) which opens up the extra dashboard where you can launch tools like the Backlink Profiler, Quick Backlinks tool, Link Detox®, etc.
Power users can use multiple complex searches such as SEO footprints to find specific types of forums or blogs in their niche.
SERP Research Tool Features
The results table has a column where you can see if you have a link already. It would make sense to try and get a link in as many places as possible, but not to duplicate links and look spammy.
Advanced filter for selecting the site type
From the results table, you can select the type of sites where you can engage with your audience. Forums and blogs are obvious choices. You can sort these by Power*Trust to find the places that are most worthwhile. This is how to find prospects for link building and direct traffic by getting involved with existing discussions.
Power use with complex Google searches
The SERP Tool can be used to input up to 20 keywords. These keywords can also be complex Google search queries. In this example, common footprints for BuddyPress and MediaWiki are used to find blogs and wikis talking about iPhone repairs.
It is likely that a search like this could return many results that have been heavily spammed, so to exclude these later you should enable the On page-Linking Analysis Package in the extra metrics section. This will add the ExtL metric to the results table. ExtL shows the Total number of external links on a given page.
Once you have the results table, you can now choose to show only the pages with, for example, ExtL
