When we launched the Full Backlink Audit feature, we were proud.
We were excited.
And we were surprised about how large some of the backlink profiles were.
Some customers were shocked by the sheer amount of extra links. Some were shocked about what we call “unverified links”. Other customers clearly appreciated the amount of effort, innovation and yearlong development of our product that stands out.
Many of our customers also clearly indicated that they understood the idea of a full backlink audit and are happy to pay for it when needed, but needed a more economical solution for “between”.

And we heard you and bring this now as “Eco Mode”. A more economical, yet complete audit approach to the 100% backlink profile audit that we promoted and enforced in our product for half a year. This comes at no extra cost.
The Eco Mode is the new Link Audit option, available to all LRT users. You are now to able to choose and make your own decision of whether you want to run an audit with your archived links included or if you want to work with Backlink data that is only 1 - 30 days old.
Link Detox in Eco Mode will include all current links. This will help audit domains on a regular basis.
You get freshly crawled and verified links in every report so you can base your decisions on accurate data. Google looks at them too when they decide if you should get a penalty or not.
This is how you profit from the Eco Mode:
- Analyze your current links
- Work faster and economical
- Fresh data that is only 1- 30 days old
- Verified data
- Data from 25 different link sources
This will ease your daily SEO work because you can do your link audits on a daily basis.
You have the choice.
Do you need to analyze your full backlink profile including the archived links or do you want to look at
the current status and run the report in Eco Mode?
Find out what you need to know about Google Penguin, so you can boost your rankings
As Google confirmed, links remain the #1 ranking factor, alongside content and “RankBrain.”

Are the archived links obsolete? By no means. It is still the recommended approach for a lot of occasions because it yields problematic links you might not find other, how:
- Links from long forgotten places –archived links, weak links and still worth auditing as they may be holding you back.
- Links from already expired/disconnected domains (that are holding you back in the rankings)
- Links from shadow networks trying everything possible to hide from bots (and we try even harder)
Some reasons to still run a full backlink audit including archived links and everything else you could find (and thus using more credits) are:
- An initial full audit taking over a new client (you want to shine, don’t you?).
- Extra number of Virus and Malware links that pose an especially high risk.
- A Google manual action issued.
- Suspicious incoming new links that could be a negative SEO attack.
- A sudden drop in rankings.
I’m happy and feel lucky that we can now offer both options in a product stronger and more thorough than ever.
The “Eco Mode” is the answer to clients’ budget limitations, link audit project time limitations and a “controlled and assumed risk” of not auditing all backlinks but at least all domains.
