Happy Mother's Day Interflora!

Just in time for the mother's day in the UK next week March 10, the Google Penalty for Interflora got lifted - at least partially - already and very quick.

We've just been for a Sunday walk when I saw Irishwonder tweets this

And in fact they really came back for their brand Interflora and a couple phrases like flower delivery already.

What happened before to Interflora?

Last week they got penalized for at least the spammy advertorials all over regional newspapers but we also found a lot more poor link building in the deep dive analysis.

There and in the webinar I did on last Thursday (recording) we already saw, that they started to remove links from those regional newspapers really fast, but we also saw a lot of junk links still pointing to then - a lot means 100s.

Yesterday I posted about which methods Interflora could use to build up 101 better and higher quality links and fix their site.

So pending a full review I would assume Interflora has already done

  • removal of links from advertorials (as confirmed last week already)
  • removal of links from various shady blogs (they did a MASSIVE outreach to bloggers, as could be confirmed)
  • disavowing of links they could not remove from free blogs (speculation)
  • file a reconsideration request and/or talk directly to Matt, as this was this whole penalty was obviously a high level decision at Google
  • wait and pray

What changed now?

Apparently Interflora is not only back for their brand name in the organic results, but their Google+ profile that was removed (manually?) is showing up again as you can see above and have confirmed here by Dan Barker as well.

Now it appears rankings are slowly coming back, called "Google Dance" by Irishwonder

Opinions on this really quick penalty lift

Manually removed, manually reinstated

Interflora sent flowers to the Google spam team headquarters 🙂

Penalty hit *after* Valentine's Day, Google have now put them back in time for Mother's Day

How nice of Google, don't you think?

More research on the Interflora penalty

There's a lot more to look at and to say, so I'll dig deeper into actual links that got removed, the link detox health ratios we'll see now and provide an update to this post.

For now, go ahead and checkout these posts:

What do you think? Was this to quick? To manual?

Let me know!

So within a 15 odd days span they managed to clean up so many links to please Google? And Google is also quick to react to that. Why the penalty after Valentine day only? Easter, Mother’s day, St. Patricks day are coming.
People at Interflora, especially SEO team, will be happy to see their sales touching the sky, again.
